I am an animal science major and will be taking my vet tech certification test here in a year’ish time. I’m needing to update my pitiful animal book collection with some serious material pertaining to breeds (not just AKC recognized), anatomy, medical, history of cats, etc. So if you have any suggestions for one or more Excellent cat books, I would appreciate it! Thank you!

I have loads of cat vet med books but not necessarily what you need. You should have be given a list of recommended books for your course, which will be available on Amazon.

I recently attended a seminar about feline behavior, and the speaker recommended the book, “The Welfare of Cats” by Irene Rochlitz. It probably doesn’t cover all those topics, but it looks very good. It’s pricey, but I’m going to buy it.

Cats aren’t recognized by the AKC. That’s the American Kennel Club and that’s for dogs - not cats. TICA (The International Cat Association), CFA (Cat Fanciers of America) and the ACFA (American Cat Fanciers Association) recognize cat breeds.
A really nice book about breeds is the “Eyewitness Guides: Cats”. Another book I recently read was “Cat Biz” and it’s a really great book with lots of info about the history cats, obscure facts and them, stories - definitely should get that one.
