    Sarah Jewel asked:

I am going to school to be a veterinary technician and we are going to be tested over breeds of cats. I will be shown a picture and have to identify the different breeds without a list of the names of breeds.Does anyone have any ideas or websites that might help me out some more??

Flash cards. Cut out a picture of the cat and stick it to one side of the card, write the name of the cat on the other.

write them on a page and stare at it for a hour don’t read just stare at it. or make a stupid song about the flea bags. it worked for me in college

Visualization. Picture a bread of cat - in your mind. Then add something crazy that relates to the name of the breed. In your mind see this silly image. Then you will remember it - forever.

The best and fastest way to memorize facts are fact cards, i had to memorize 100 history facts in the eighth grade in 5 days, i got a 97/100 on the test and i am not a person who memorizes things very fast.

i would say flash cards, this is how i learned 120 species of birds. also, if there is a little mental trick that you can think up, any kind of silly association maybe between the appearance of the cat and the breed name, write that on the side of the card with the name so that you can help trigger your memory that way as well

My vet has a plasticized picture on the wall showing all cats (he has one for dogs, too) and their breeds. Google “cat breed chart” and a whole bunch of stuff comes up and you could buy one that shows all cats. There are 39 breeds of cats recognized by the Cat Fancier Assocation. Good luck.

Well, listen to a different song everytime you study each cat. do this over and over again, so you eventually associate that cat to that song.

Another thing you can do is wear a scent such as lavender on your sleeve when studying these cats, and then when you have this test, wear the lavender on your sleeve and smell it when you cannot remember… it will help, honestly.

Also, it sounds childish, but they use it on children BECAUSE IT WORKS- CARDS!!!
Have a set on cards with the picture of a cat and the name of the cat on there, then have sombody sit in front of you with thier hand over the name and test you on them. Repeat this many times.

Make a funny rhyme up about them… i rememberd what the colours are in the rainbow by thinking of it as a boy called Roy G Biv.
There is also that rhyme about how many days there are in months etc, just make your own up!

Lastly, make yourself up a poster. On this poster have the pictures of the cats with the name next to them. space each breed with some distance from eachother… stick it somewhere where you will see it often.
By your bed, on the fridge, by the bath room mirror…

Hope this all helps, and dont worry, when the time comes you will do great! Be fab :)

I usually write them up 3 or 4 times and then start recollecting them without the paper in front. An then i repeat I try to recollect them 2 or 3 times when i cook, 2 or 3 times when i jog and same when i am in the shower. In two days, i have them in my mind.
For long term, i try to recollect them a 4 or 5 days after. It has more or less worked for me.
      Please try that.
Note: Dont change the order of the items after writing 2 or 3 times.

Make flash cards.. and then use them in a fun way like playing concentration. Also write them down… we retain 20% of what we hear, 30% of what we see and 70% of that which we see, write and hear. This and repetition.
