Why not get one of the many Encyclopaedias of cats out from your local library or even buy one? There are hundreds of different breeds and a person could easily write pages and pages on them if they knew them well!
A good starting point is A for Abyssinians: A medium sized cat, that’s very loving, loyal, intelligent and active. They come in a total of 28 different colours although only usual/ruddy/tawny, sorrel/cinnamon, blue and fawn are fully recognized world wide with chocolate and lilac about to gain that status in most places. They all have “ticked” coats, that is where each hair has at least 2-4 bands of colour a little like the coat of a wild rabbit. They are one of the oldest recognized breeds out there, and look a lot like the cats of Ancient Egypt.
