i just saw a savannah cat in a magazine that is the size of a medium-sized dog

maine coon’s are definitely the largest, but there are crosses out there of domestic cats and wild cats that are much bigger. try looking up safari cats, habari cats, savannah cats, and bengals. all of these are crosses with wild cats like servals, leopards, and the south american geoffrey cat.

The gentle Maine Coon, and its cousin breed, the Norwegian Forest Cat.

My friend has a Maine Coon/Abyss. mixed. She is sooo adorable.

Hi, The Maine Coon is a pretty large kitty. Heres a website to look at all breeds. Great Site.

Ragdoll: Altered males will top the scale at 15-20 pounds; females usually weigh between 10-15 pounds.

Maine Coon: The males average around 12 to 15 pounds, with a few going 20 pounds or more. The females are smaller, averaging 9 to 12 pounds.

Persian/Himalayan/Exotic: Males and females are usually 10-15 lbs due to bone density. They are smaller in size then the Ragdoll or Maine Coon

The Norwegian Forest Cat can be very large (20lbs+) but since it is a natural breed the size varies line to line.

These are all long haired breeds as well (except Exotic, they’re a medium hair breed) so they look even bigger.

A new breed called The Savannah is being develped by crossing an African Serval cat to a domestic cat. The people developing the breed are aiming for 20 pounds average.

The Maine Coon is arguably the largest breed. I owned a male in the late 90s while I was in high school and he weighed about 32 pounds, he wasn’t fat, and was easily larger than my mothers Jack Russell terrier. So I’m thinking he was about two feet long and two and a half feet high at the shoulder. Let’s just say he was huge.

A Maine Coon is the largest known domestic breed. They are a tall, semi longhaired cat with a muscular stature and strong facial profile. They are well proportioned with large ears and a long full tail. They have a silky top coat which can come in any colour or pattern. It’s eyes are usually green, gold, or copper; but have been known to be blue if their coat is white.

They have a sensible, friendly, and gentle personality. They make great family pets. They are very self sufficient and enjoy outdoor life.

Because their coat is longer they do require some mainenance - regular brushing to remove burr and seeds (if outdoor). They do tend to their coats well but you need to watch for matting if they are left to roam outside.

Maine Coons usually, Norweigan Forest cats are large too.

Definitely the Ragdoll, it has overtaken the Maine Coon, who used to be the largest. The reason it’s only known now is because the Ragdoll is a hybrid.
Friend of mine breeds Main Coons.
