It depends on your preference, more than anything else. Cats are universally NOT THAT DIFFERENT when it comes their personalities. Sure, some cats are more affectionate than others but for the most part I think it depends on how they are treated as kittens.
And at what age you can “have” a boyfriend really depends on your parents, I’d think.
you know there really isnt any accept a cat book(its for 10-30 year old all about cats is the name of he book) but let me tell u a maine coon is very friendly but a lot of grooming and attention. persian not good with kids. very independent. siamese NOOOO there mean. bombays(black cats) pretty good with kids, not much grooming, though lots of attention theres a fraction in the book, ragdolls are friendly lots of grooming good with kids and lots of attention!!
siamese cats, as a breed, are not mean. some siamese cats can be mean, some persians can be mean, as well as tabbies. Siamese cats are generally one person cats, so if your friends siamese didn’t tolerate being around you, that doesn’t make all siamese cats mean. I grew up with them, and have them now, and have never met a mean one.

go to a pet shelter or pet store and pick the cat that seems to fit you…it’s weird, but the right cat for you will stick out so choose that one!

Its always best to get some sort of mix breed. Usually, pure breeds have been bred down so much, they’re stupid.
I have Siamese mutts and they’re very smart and into everything!! Don’t worry so much about the breed it really doesn’t effect all that much.

It all depends! Don’t get a long-haired cat if you don’t feel like having hair all over the carpet, don’t even get one if you vacation alot, etc.
It doesn’t really have to be a specific breed either. Animal shelters have alot of cats, very sweet cats…you could probably find a nice one there.
