If you want entertaining but not annoying, don’t get a Siamese. They are soooo mouthy. I personally suggest a Calico. I have a female (which is more rare) and think what my vet said about her once fits her to a T. Calicoes are like tornadoes, they turn on and turn off like THAT. *snap* She’s kinda crazy… Not destructive, very sweet. She even plays fetch (like a dog) with these foamy golf balls we got at Petsmart. I didn’t teach her that, she just started doing it. She brings it back and puts it right into my hand. So smart!
Pretty much all cats are entertaining. My favorites through the years have always been mixed breeds, but I also enjoy Siamese. They’re pretty vocal and sometimes demanding, but they’re incredibly intelligent and fun. There isn’t a breed of cat that’s been genetically altered to not be destructive. Any cat that isn’t provided with adequate scratching surfaces, toys and personal interaction to keep them engaged has potential to be destructive. While they don’t require quite as much time as dogs, cats do require the attention of their owners and adequate activity to prevent them from becoming bored. An engaged cat is a happy one who will be less prone to destroy things. A bored cat is often a destructive one. Adopting an adult cat will minimize the possibility, as they will have already outgrown the curious kitten stage. But ultimately it’s really up to the owner whether or not their cat is destructive.
The most entertaining cats I have found are mixed breed shelter kittens.
They spend most off their time in a small cage at a shelter, then when you bring them home they are so excited about all the space Some take a few days too settle in, but after they get use too their new home it’s all fun and games Plus shelter cats know you saved them and seem too be much thankfull.
Siamese! They are sooo cute and sweet. They are totally “people” cats, and love to cuddle up to you and sit on laps, but they are very demanding and can be very talkative. My siamese both “yell at me” if I’m not paying enough attention to them. Also, they are very funny. One of my siamese cats plays fetch, which I’ve heard is common with siames. It is really cute and very entertaining. When friends come over they are always blown away by how smart my cats are. Even non cat lovers (example…my dad who hates cats) are often intrigued by siamese.
Plus, their intelligence makes them easier to train to use scratching posts etc.
The most entertaining ones are the Rexes (Devon/Cornish) and Ocicats. Rexes are realy goofy (I’ve owned a devon cross and bred Cornish). Ocicats are goofy but really energetic cats and are very entertaining with their jumping, smart and intelligent actions.
I don’t think I could ever own a longhair cat when living with rexes and oci’s - they would be totally boring to me

My moggies keep me well entertained. But if you want an actual breed, I know Siamese cats are a lot of fun. They do tend to be noisy, though.
