    cat breeds
    chadab asked:

I have a friend who says she has bred cats before, and she has a siamese and one of her offspring looks just like her, and now he’s old enough to breed. Is this unusual? Or is it ok with cats? I have cats, but have never bred them. I know nothing about it. I just think it’s weird.

      what…no!!
      incest cats ewww

    • Tessa Says:

      No it is not OK.

    • Kendall H Says:

NO! Incest is gross, and it causes odd mutations.

    • Chris Says:

as the other person said, this person is cleary retarded.. and not a responsible breeder! There are all kinds of health issues that go along with inbreeding any animal.

    • veterinarymom Says:

NO NO NO NO, OMG……….r u kidding?

    • colored_fire Says:

Incest born cats can have serious disabilities and even die from it. Seriously, don’t do it. All that will come of it will be wrong and ill.

    • Tammy M Says:

This is dangerous because it has the potential to magnify genetic defects (make inherited problems more prevalent). It is done by certain purebred breeders in many species but I would advise against it.

No, it is not okay. Would it be okay for a mother to breed with her son? It’s not any different for animals.

    • Judy W Says:

I would not risk having a horrible recessive gene rear its ugly head. I have had a lot of cats but never had one that willingly bred back to her son. There usually was a big fight and he got hurt.

    • kai s Says:

It is not ok to breed mother cats wit their offspring but it is usual to have cats look like others especially their parents hopefully this answers your question

    • Lizz Says:

Is it ok do “breed” with your son? Clearly no, its not. you shouldn’t do that anyways because that offspring will most likely come out with some kind of problem. And anyway that’s disgusting.

    • jesssiiiiiicccaa Says:

This is not okay at all. This can cause major deformities. The same problems can occur that do with incest in humans.

    • k b Says:

no the kitten will not be healthy

    • macleod709 Says:

just don’t breed your cats. spay your females and neuter your males. there are too many kittens and cats that get euthenized in shelters because there just not enough homes for the kittens and cats we already have in the world.

    • Holly H Says:

The ONLY time I’ve EVER heard of this being allowed, was in the development of a new breed, which was followed up by extensive selective breeding process to reduce genetic problems, thereby strengthening and diversifying the “stock” and reducing mutations or health issues. The Ragdoll is one such breed, as its a rather new one. But with Siamese, there is simply no excuse. My breeder has special rooms in her house where she puts her cats in heat so there is no mixup with related cats, even if they’re only cousins, or uncle/niece, etc etc.

    • Lindsay R Says:

A mother wouldn’t breed with her own offspring because she knows that she gave birth to them. She knows what they smell like, what they look like, how they act. That’s just gross.

    • bffs789562 Says:

No!! would you marry your father? no! its called inbreeding.

    • spooky1 Says:

uk answer - yee gods I would not! it’s just not right or proper. yeuch….

    • Britney S Says:

i truly think that ideal is very wrong because the offspring will turn out to be developed wrong or come out wrong. It may cause problems to give birth. Besides who would like to breed their son with their own mother. that is just pure wrong. Cats don’t know whats wrong or rite. i suggest that you just not breed the mother cat with the offspring because it will look very wrong like not have a tail or something like that.

    • misstraceyrick Says:

NO! Your friend is wrong if she’s telling you its ok, its not! Years ago my female had a litter and 11 months after that, her son mated with her, i didn’t even know she was in season so didn’t seprate them and her first born was hideously disfigured - it was sad because she was a little chocolate brown, long haired little thing but her features were awful! Thankfully she didn’t live longer than a few minutes but it was sad for her mum, and me because i felt so guilty although it couldn’t have been helped. Please don’t allow it to happen, its not nice and can affect the mum emotionally.
