I was never a cat person, but we went to a shelter. Saw the sad kitten, read the sheet, which said that she was an indoor kitten. Fixed with all the shots. And we took her. She was the best joys! Go to a shelter first. You will save an animal, and you know what you gonna get.
It would probably be easier to list the ones that aren’t suited for it … lol
Aby’s need company
Norwegians are hunters
Somalians are like Aby’s - with long hair
Bengals need to stretch and are hunters
and some mixes just can’t handle it either (I have one of those)
Best bet is to adopt one from the shelter and chances are he’ll be ok with it
Ragdolls are adorable cats, they have friendly loving characters have the most beautiful blue eyes. We have two, a boy and a girl. If you are out at work all day you need to get two cats as it’s not really fair to leave an animal all day, especially as you are wanting an indoor cat.
i have a persian cat and he has never given me trouble with anything. always used the litter box, didn’t destroy any furniture or claw at anything, stays off the counters.. he never even tried to go outside when i open the door. he’s a really good kitty. but if you get a persian just know they are a lot of work when it comes to grooming because their hair is so long it will get clumps if you dont brush them daily. or you can have it shaved at the groomer’s regularly if you don’t have the time, my cat likes when we shave him i think, he always seems more affectionate and playful afterwards. keep an eye out for a persian in one of the shelters near you, they are good cats.
EVERY cat breed - as well as cats of no particular breed. Go to your local shelter and pick one out! Your best bet would be to adopt an adult shelter cat. Their personalities are right there before you unlike a kitten where you really never know what they’ll be like when they grow up. And a lot of the adult cats at shelters have always lived indoors so they won’t be door dashing.
To the person saying “Bengals are hunters”: I’ll give a $1,000 if you can name ONE Bengal owner than lets their cats outdoors - what a ridiculous comment!
Any cat who has never been outdoors will be perfectly happy indoors. I would get a kitten, so you can “start from scratch,” as far as training and behavior.
The only time I would think keeping a cat indoors would be a challenge is if you adopt a grown cat whos used to going outside.

1. All cat breeds are better off living indoors.
2. They are absolutely fine being alone at working hours.

any cat can be an indoor cat but instead of paying tons of money on a petagree cat, go to the shelter and adotp a domestic short hair.
indoor cats can live into their 20’s
outdoor cats may never see their 3rd birthday
