tater tot asked:
I love cat’s but my husband hates that their fur gets everywhere. Our previous cat died at Christmas and I want to get another one, but I want my husband to be happy too. If any one knows of a cat breed that does not shed or sheds only minimally, your advise would be much appreciated.
thanks

It really depends on the cat and its genetics. In general, the shorter the hair the better (but not always the case). And get a good vacuum - there are several on the market now that claim to be excellent at getting pet dander.

the sphynx, devon rex & cornish rex don’t shed much. (they aren’t really hypoallergenic if that is an issue at all, but they shed less than many other breeds.)
getting a bagless vacuum helps…they generally pick up hair better than conventional vacuums. daily grooming also helps. most cats like to be brushed -it’s like a mini massage - and all it takes is a few minutes each day. those things may help cut down with whatever you decide to get.
and for the record, a mexican hairless is a dog. albeit a small one which could be mistaken for a cat, but a dog nonetheless.

Selkirk Rex, Devon Rex, Sphynx, some La Perms, the Mexican hairless is extinct, Don Sphynx, Peterbald, Bambino, Kohana, Cornish Rex. I think there might be more but I would have to check it out. Just so you know, hairless breeds (all I’ve posted here) are high maintenance. They require lots of care.

REX cats…
Sphynx
- I am pretty sure that Mexican Hairless is a DOG BREED..
if you brush your cats and feed a good food - you wont have as much hair loss..
unfortunatly most people dont know enough about cat food to know what food is bad and what is good..
ALL foods from grocery store or Wal Mart are BAD.
