sammsamm asked:
I’m looking into getting a pet kitten but i would like to get a small one. Is there a certain type of breed of short hair cats that have a maximum size/weight that is smaller than most other cat breeds?
Thanks!

If you are looking for a pure breed, I recommend the Devon Rex. They are short haired, small-ish (but not minis), they have great, loving, affectionate personalities. How do I know? I have one!

There are breeds that are smaller than others but you can’t get a kitten and expect it to stay within the breed norm necessarily. I got a Tonkinese kitten a year ago. They told me she would be about six pounds, like her mother. The females are generally no bigger than eight pounds. My cat is 10 lbs 4 ounces and all muscle. The breeder said she’s never heard of a female Tonk being that large that wasn’t fat. My cat did not stay within the norm at all.
If you insist on a particular size cat, the best thing you can do is rescue an adult so you know what size they are. Actually, the best thing you can do is rescue, whether it’s cat or kitten. Good luck to you.

Burmese cats. They’re pretty small full grown, smaller than most, their fur is really shiny and soft with little shedding, and they’re just so sweet and lovey, I think you’d like one!
