      No it’s not.
It makes no difference if they’re in the same house - they don’t care about that all they are interested in is having sex.
Do yourself ( and your cats ) a favour and get them both fixed.

whoever told you that was on drugs. As soon as the female comes into heat they will breed.

Added: Why do you want kittens! Have you not walked through the pounds and seen all the kittens there that need homes!! Kittens are only kittens for a short time them they are cats. What then?

    • Seantae Says:

Eh. You know, they might. If they do then you will need to come up with somewhere for the boys to go until you’ve gotten rid of all the kittens or they are abour 8 weeks old. Whether or not the boys will kill the babies depends on how aggressive they are at that point, but when the kits are still defenceless they are in danger.

A way to avoid all of that: get your cats fixed, or at least have the female spayed.

Please get them both spayed/neutered. The female is too young to breed without it taking a toll on her health. Your cats will be better pets and much healthier. Neutering can prevent cancers in both sexes. also there are far too many cats/kittens euthanized due to lack of homes.

If you want kittens, go adopt them from an animal shelter, and on your way home, stop at a vet and make appointments to get them all (including your existing cats) spayed/ neutered like someone with an ounce of responsibility and common sense.

No it is not true and yes they would breed. I don’t mean to be mean but if this is your knowledge about cats you should not breed. Are they a pure breed cat? We do not need any more mixed domestic cats. Look at the shelters and rescues there are so many now that don’t have homes. If you want kittens go to the humane society or rescue and adopt a litter.Your cat doesn’t need to have more for you to have kittens. It is healthier for your cats to get spayed/neutered. Hope you will take that into consideration, thanks!

Your cats will breed. The boy just hasn’t figured out how to do it YET.

I assume your cats are pedigreed, registered and tested to be free of any health conditions or genetic defects, right? The person who sold you the cats should, ethically, offer to mentor you or refer you to someone who will answer all of your questions. Perhaps the contracts you have on the cats you bought, if they are pedigreed cats, prohibits you from breeding them.

If your cats are not pedigreed, tested to be healthy and clear of risk, and you do not have a good mentor to help you with this, then you are making risky choices with living beings.

If you are breeding “mutt cats”, why? Do you have a lineup of forever pet homes willing to take as many as eight kittens from you? Will you spay/neuter and vaccinate them before they go to their forever homes? If yes, then what about the mixed breed kittens waiting to be adopted from shelters in your community? Who will adopt them?

      You have lots to learn.

It doesn’t matter if they live together or not, they’ll breed when the time is ‘right’. It’s true that some males will kill the offspring of another male and a few might even kill their own offspring. In fact, even some females will kill kittens. Honestly, I would get them spayed and neutered asap. Unless you’re going to keep the kittens (spaying/neutering all), they’ll most likely end up in the shelter sooner or later. It’s not terribly difficult to place kittens, but once they grow up and aren’t as cute/fun people change their minds. Plus, the parents (yes, females too) will start spraying when they mature. Spaying/neutering before maturity will greatly reduce the risk, but afterwards it makes little to no difference.

Here’s more info on cats that kill kittens:

Yes they will breed together if they are living together.

However, you need to ensure that the female is physically and emotionally mature before she is bred. She should be at least a year old otherwise you will have a high risk of problems such as the kittens being abandonned.
